Environmental Education Program
Our alliance for the environmental education of Quintana Roo:
Delphinus
Xcaret and Xel-Há
Flora, Fauna and Culture of Mexico
The Ministry of Education and Culture of Quintana Roo
Educational visits are included as part of the Delphinus Environmental Education Program, these allow students from public (95%) and private (5%) schools in the state of Quintana Roo to have the opportunity to visit one of the 7 habitats of Delphinus for an educational encounter with the dolphins. This exciting and discovery-filled moment helps environmental educators and animal care specialists raise issues such as climate change, plastic pollution in the ocean, overfishing and the invasion of exotic species, situations that affect marine ecosystems and, consequently, humanity.
Our Delphinus Environmental Education Program includes training in values and commitment to environmental protection, from the internal community, as well as the promotion of these in the basic education schools of the state of Quintana Roo and for all visitors who enjoy our facilities and programs for dolphin interactions.
Every year we receive between 14,000 and 18,000 students as part of this program. The public school students of Quintana Roo and their teachers attend for free, since it is part of the social responsibility of the organization and a way of giving back to the community in which it operates and on which it depends.
Our activities for the conservation of the environment are:
- Environment education classes in high schools.
- Beach, mangroves and other urban spaces cleaning.
- Comprehensive Environmental Management of solid waste, energy, water and fuel consumption.
- Organizing the Festival of the Oceans of the Mexican Caribbean, the most important environmental education event in the region.
